About Us

Trehalose.co.uk can trace its beginnings back to 1998 when the founder, Paul Barton, became fascinated by the role functional carbohydrates played in human physiology. The next 28 years saw him champion the use of trehalose in a wide variety of sectors including food, health, agriculture and even manufacturing. Much credit goes to multi award winning chef's Heston Blumenthal (the Fat Duck) and Clare Smyth (Core) who have both used Trehalose in their recipes. Paul retired in early 2026 and after much deliberation Hayley and I have decided to continue Paul's work. Paul is still providing technical expertise to Hayley and I.

Due to Paul's work and knowledge we have inherited an unrivalled relationship with Nagase and Prinova and we have reactivated Trehalose.co.uk with their active support. We also enjoy a very strong and supportive relationship with Cornelius Ltd (the UK food sector distributor).

We recognise that taut supply lines and quick deliveries are crucial to the food sector. We aim to deliver anywhere in the UK within 48 hours of orders being placed and can arrange regular orders at intervals to suit your business.
